When I went to San Diego, I went up to my hosts' mountain home, overlooking Lake Cuyamaca. I took this coming down the mountain, January 7, 2005. This is from the San Diego Fires in October of 2003. A lot of the structures haven't been rebuilt yet. Construction companies are backlogged, just like roofing companies in Florida from the hurricanes of 2004.
It kind of symbolizes, to me, how devastating fires can be. A little piece of Heaven turned suddenly into a fiery Hell. It was one of the worst in the history of the United States.
